What’s happening at the shop this weekend? We’re so glad you asked!

Tomorrow we’ll have author Jessica Ann Disciacca at the shop 10-2 with her Dark Throne and Witches of Triora series! We will also have some clearance and closeout goodies, a restocked clearance cart, and a big 3D print restock! 🎉

And while you’re here… peep the new gorgeous art by Sarah Ruth Frey! We have 4x6 art prints hitting shelves this Saturday.

Now, I’m going to be a little candid.

Construction started on Main Street this week, and it’s been our slowest sales week since before we even moved into our new space. Knowing this project will last for the next few months is definitely stressful, especially seeing the impact after only a couple of days. 🙃

So, if you’ve been wondering… we are ✨OPEN✨
While the street in front of the shop is closed, the sidewalks are open, and there is convenient public parking directly behind our building. It may take an extra minute to get here, but we’re here with so many books, plants, and goodies waiting for you.

In June, work for the Downtown Streetscape Project began in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Main St is closed, but we are open! Main St. will remain closed for the upcoming months, but we are staying open. The sidewalk in front is open and there is ample parking a block away and on 11th St. Those with mobility issues can be dropped off at the corner. We will need your business now as much as ever. Also, it is Election Day. Get out there and vote!

It’s that glorious time of year in Missouri we when get fresh produce from gardens within a 10 mile radius of the Bean. These came from our neighbor Mark Davis. I will have extra jars of Bread & Butter refrigerator pickles ready soon and these tomatoes will be sliced fresh for sandwiches. Sara grabbed a handful of basil from our own garden and we always go through a ton of garlic. It all adds up to delicious!

KSHB TV news was in town last week. Claire Bradshaw and the crew came in and interviewed Sara. The link to the video is in the comments.

No. We did not change the recipe. The market for dairy products has been up and down and for a while and in December, we couldn’t find our regular mozzarella or provolone for our frittata. For a while, had to use the more expensive stuff we could hardly afford. You can taste why it’s a bit more expensive. It’s richer, creamier, more buttery, and almost nutty. Fortunately, we have an awesome purchasing agent and he’s been getting us the expensive cheese for the lower price for months now. You’re awesome, Chris!

We have the best neighbors in downtown Blue Springs. Twyla from America’s Community Bank always brings us potted plants as gifts on the holidays. Shop local, shop small, support small businesses! Sara is working on a big pot of Tomato soup and a few desserts for the refrigerated case.
