For the last 10 years DSBBQ has been a major part of my life. Getting up early, making multiple trips to the restaurant after hours, to S&S, and to Birmingham all just to keep wheels turning. Some days are easy and some days are very difficult...all in all the normal day to day life of solely owning and operating a business. Over the years I've learned that if you're gonna serve the public, you have to be prepared to do JUST THAT. It's a lot of donations, it's a lot "catch up with me next week", and it's making friends feel comfortable enough at your place of business that they can come in and feel a sense relief and talk to you about their day. It's all about service. It's not always a "sandwich to go, here's your change." People wanna feel welcomed. I have really enjoyed it and I'm very grateful for this portion of my life.
That being said .... all things have a season. And this season for me is going go on pause. As of February 1st I will be closing the doors at Deep South for the winter to pursue an opportunity that's presented it's self at the perfect time. I anticipate to re open 4th of July week this summer, but as of now I must take advantage of an opportunity just to see what I can do with it. I wanna thank all my customers for the undying support this little community has showered me with for a decade. It has been a blessing to my soul. We've got two weeks to really enjoy "the best bbq I know how to make" and I'd love to see all of your faces one more time before this long break.
