Pick these up at The Exchange (our neighbors to the left of us) 💕🎨🖼️
Just in time for the Fall Equinox, we've got "Cash & Carry" panels for you!
This year marks the 13th year of the show, and while we do not have 13 different shapes, nor any 13-sided panels, we do have plenty of variety:
-- 214 8-inch squares;
-- 185 7-inch-by-9-inch rectangles;
-- 95 9-inch equilateral triangles;
-- 27 6-inch-by-10-inch rectangles;
-- 18 6-inch-by-7-inch rectangles;
-- and 23 random pieces with three and four sides.
It comes to a total of 562 panels. Thanks very much to Gallery committee member Ron Lambert for helping to cut them.
As always, we'll give them away three at a time to each and every artist who wants to participate; when each one comes back with art on it, the artist can take another, until we run out of panels. Last year's show had work by more than 250 people of all ages and levels of experience from the Pennsylvania counties of Columbia, Delaware, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder, and Union.
As always, the panels themselves serve as the theme of the show, and artists can do anything with them: You can paint on them, draw on them, glue photographs on them, knit around them, even cut them into little bits and glue them back together -- ANYTHING.
We'd like all of the artwork back here by Saturday, the 21st of November; we'll hang it all that weekend and have the show on display for a couple of weeks before sales begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, the 4th of December (December's First Friday in downtown Bloomsburg and our "Coming Home For Christmas"). That Friday at 10 a.m., we'll start giving out random numbers. At 6 p.m., the person with number 1 may choose one piece, and if she wants another she must take another number and go to the end of the line. Then number 2 chooses one piece, etc. After the initial rush, which usually lasts about a half-hour, then anyone can buy as many pieces as she likes.
As always, we take cash, checks, and charge cards; we just like the way "Cash & Carry" sounds, and it indicates that buyers take their purchases away straightaway (unlike a usual exhibition here where the pieces stay on the wall until the end of the show's run).
Every piece sells for $30, with $24 going to the artist; $6 stays here to help keep our lights on. (And we sure appreciate any artist wishing to donate more of the proceeds.)
You can pick up panels during any of our open hours (exchangearts.org/gallery-hours); we look forward to seeing you here, and we REALLY look forward to your artwork!
