Winding up our time with Missions of Hope. it was hard to say good bye to our Kenyan friends - and soooo many cute kids! We treated over 200 patients per day with complete medical, dental & eye exams. Many had never had a check-up before.

On Sunday evening, we closed our Kirkwood doors for the last time. While it was an emotional final week of business, we want to thank you all for the amazing amount of support that we received. We met new friends, said hello to old ones, and heard your countless stories about special memories made in the Pourhouse. A group of staff members caught up over dinner last night to celebrate the Pourhouse and share our own memories. So from our family to yours, thank you for pouring goodness into us in our final week and throughout the years. This is a see you soon, not a farewell

As our final days at the Kirkwood location wrap up, we’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on what we love most about our cafe. From conversations and community outreach, to cinnamon rolls and good coffee, to our amazing customers and supporters, there are so many things we adore about the Pourhouse. Friends of the Pourhouse,
It is with a heavy and yet hopeful heart that I offer you this update on the state of things at the Pourhouse since reopening in August.
It would be an understatement to say that this year has been a challenge. If you’ve followed us here on social media or remained a regular customer, you are already aware that we made the decision to temporarily close our doors back in March as a first response to the growing pandemic. This was an incredibly challenging action, but allowed us the space to plan and act appropriately moving into our reopen in mid-August.
Now, we are faced with the heavy decision to close our doors again, and this time in a semi-permanent manner. The Pourhouse on Kirkwood will be closing, and our last open date in this location will be Sunday, October 25, 2020.
As business and spending trends have drastically changed these last few months, and we expect another drastic dip in business as students go fully online between November and February, we have come to the conclusion that we cannot wisely keep our doors open in the same capacity as we have for the last 13 years.
In order to remain a viable business, we will be shutting our doors, entering an “inactive” state as a business, and beginning to search for a location to call our future home, where we hope to re-open when the market and state of things has resumed some semblance of normalcy.
We have absolutely loved serving Kirkwood and Bloomington as a whole, and we cannot wait to announce our ability to begin serving once again in new ways and old. When the time comes, we will share our game plan with all of you here. Stay tuned.

We are so excited to announce our October/November tip partner! Your tips for the next couple of months will support a rural hospital in Peredo, Haiti to complete a surgery center that serves a regional population of thousands. The region was recently ravaged by flooding Tropical Storm Laura, and the completion of the hospital will bring needed services to those affected. Thanks for your generosity!
