A few tips on how to make your breakfast healthier:
1. Use whole grain pancakes or waffles instead of regular pancakes or waffles.
2. Add fruits to pancakes or waffles.
3. Use lite syrup instead of regular syrup.
4. Use low-fat spreads (e.g., low-far mayonnaise or butter) instead or regular varieties.
5. Try whole grain breads and whole grain cereal.
6. Add sliced bananas between a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

While we're waiting for all of the snow to melt, today is a gorgeous day, almost 60 degrees, wow!!!.

Let's try to get some exercise steps in- talk a walk outside with your little ones. Make this a fun activity by playing a game of "how far can we walk in 30 minutes and how many cars are we able to spot along the way"?

Be sure to take a bottle of water with you so you can stay hydrated.

A great way to get children to try new and healthy foods is to make food and eating fun. Also a way to teach children about different foods and colors and expose them to different food textures.

Here, we have created a fun face using sliced bananas, a chocolate chip cookie, orange and strawberry slices. Try this at home, you can also substitute with other fun fruits or vegetables. Which of the fruits did your child want to try first? Share you pictures or stories with us!

Let's practice some self-care!

As parents, we often forget to practice self-care because so many people depend on us. Well, we recommend taking some time to do so this weekend. Plan ahead- who can help to care for your kids? Let the person know. What do you need to put in place so you can take the "me time"?

Even if just for 30 minutes, try do something that you find fun or relaxing. Some suggestions we've tried-- take a nap, listen to music you like, take a walk, soak in a bath, watch a movie, meditate, get your nails or hair done, get a massage, chat with a friend you haven't spoken with in a while, or go for a drive.

While we're snowed in, here's a fun food activity to try with your kids. Together, let's make a snowman on a plate!

What you'll need: bananas, strawberries, pretzel sticks, mini chocolate chips

Cut bananas into thick slides (~ 1 inch) for the body. Cut strawberries into four slices for the hat. Assemble the fruits on a plate with the chocolate chip for the snowman's eyes and buttons. The pretzels are the arms.

Alternatives: Other fruits and vegetables you can use: instead of strawberries, use apples, instead of bananas, use grapes or oranges. Carrot sticks can be used for the arms.
