Running a small business means bringing my whole self to work every day. I love baking for this community, and because I value authenticity and connection, I want to share exactly what celebrating this country means to me.
If you see me celebrating with my today, just know that for me, being an American means standing up for equality, dignity, and opportunity for ALL people.
It means dismantling systemic racism, protecting bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom. It means advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, protecting trans kids, and ensuring liberty and justice for everyone. It acknowledges that immigrants have supported the growth of this country for centuries, and that immigrants make America stronger - no human is illegal.
I believe our democracy is worth protecting and that a true separation of church and state is essential. Our current government does not dictate what we, the people, have the power to do and accomplish.
Today is about standing up for true freedom, while acknowledging the work we all need to keep doing everyday to be better, and do better, to protect each other, and build a country where everyone can thrive.
