It's been brought to our attention once again that someone is spreading the rumor that we have closed or that we are no longer in business. I guess some people are just sad about their own life's station and jealous of others so they spread rumors trying to hurt another's business. Rest assured, we are open for business as usual and serving some of the best barbecue in Union county. Don is still out there every day firing up his custom-made smoker and putting his decades of barbecue expertise to work so that our customers get great Southern bbq. But don't just take our word for it, come on by and have some of our excellent brisket, pulled pork, barbecue ribs and our homemade sides!

Papaw’s Trading Post Bac-Yard BBQ

Many of you have requested that we share our story with you, our history as it were, so here goes!

Our Pit Master Don has been smoking great BBQ for over 45 years. All of our meats, ribs, chicken, pork and brisket are cooked on the premises in our custom-made smokers! We cook all week so that we have fresh, hot BBQ for our customers. We also have a Trading Post where we sell antiques and locally made chairs for sittin’ on your porch and enjoying the North Georgia Mountain air!

We opened the original Papaw’s BBQ in March of 2013 to serve you the very best southern BBQ. The original location was on a leased lot at 11052 Nottley Dam Rd. We built a great business serving homemade potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and desserts. We also made (still make) all our many BBQ sauces from mild to nice and hot! We slow cook all our meats fresh from the farm; ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chopped chicken and smoked wings and we’ve added turkey to our menu!

In 2018 we were forced to relocate due to the sale of the lot our business was built on, BUT WE NEVER SOLD THE BUSINESS OR OUR RECIPES! (as rumor has it).
