The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees. Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two per year, including those in neighboring West Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Macado’s just recently opened its newest location in Winchester, Virginia. The already-lengthy menu has been changed and expanded over the years, and several events have grown in popularity, such as the Macado’s Annual St. Loyal customers have made Macado’s part of their own traditions as well!

Just wanted to keep you posted on the current water situation and what we are doing to address it.

In effort to prioritize the safety of our patrons, we have stocked the restaurant with bags of ice for drinks, halted the use of soda machines and have a shipment of bottled Coke products as well as bottled water to serve.

Despite a very expensive filtration system, we are not going to take any chances. We are also boiling all of our water that we use to cook with.

Whether this lasts for one day or a week, we are making every effort to make sure that we take care of you as safely as possible.

This position is responsible for greeting the customers as they arrive in the restaurant. Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for wait staff, answer the phone and take any carry-out/to-go orders for customers. They are to aid the servers in making desserts, bussing dishes and occasionally helping catch up the dish room on shifts were a dishwasher is not scheduled and as their work load allows.

Duties and Responsibilities
o Prepare food in accordance to the menu instructions.
o Make servers aware of any necessary up-charges for changes made.
o Ensure that there is an adequate amount of food prepped for the estimated sales for each shift.
o Prepare dips and salads, pre-portion entrees, cook up bacon, make croutons, cook chicken breasts in accordance with company guidelines.
o Ensure that food is handled correctly to prevent cross contamination and food born illnesses.
o Know the importance of food allergies and watch tickets for special cooking instructions.
o Make sure all prepped items have a date seal and use items in correct order.
o Help put up and store food deliveries rotating stock to ensure freshness of products.
o Make manager aware of any items that are left off, arrived damaged or were received in error.
o Nobody under 18-yrs of age is permitted to operate a slicer or a deep fryer.
o Be familiar with the proper usage and cleaning of slicers and other kitchen appliances.
