Local journalism matters! 🗞

Investigative reporting by journalist Elijah Skipper and the WLOS ABC 13 team into the Town's forced shutdown of our previously-approved balcony deck was recently named a nominee in the 2026 RTDNAC Awards.

Their reporting cast a light on our situation and helped illuminate the struggles of small businesses in Black Mountain created by admitted "errors" in the Town's Planning & Zoning department.

We believe in the importance of local journalism in holding our representatives accountable and celebrate and the efforts of Elijah Skipper, Fred McCormick, and others to keep our citizens informed. 👏
