Whose favorite suite at The Red Rocker Inn is our Skyline Suite? Located on the quiet third floor of the , it was the summer sleeping porch in the old days of the original house.

The romantically draped King-sized bed faces a large gas fireplace, framed by a cozy settee, old fashion mirrored dressing table and antique armoire. The spacious private bath has both an antique claw foot tub and convenient step-in shower. Add a third person in the room with a love seat that can fold out into a very comfortable single bed.

The suite has a mini-fridge and a coffee maker right in the accommodation. This room is ideal for either couples, families, or friends’ retreats. Please notify us in advance if there is an extra guest on your reservation as we'll add $45 per night for a third guest in this room.

🍁 NC FALL COLOR UPDATE: If you're planning an October leaf trip, you may want to push it a little later this year.

Western North Carolina is running later than usual after a warm September — but the first colors ARE starting to show.

Here’s the Oct. 2 update:

🏔️ RIGHT NOW — GO HIGH Grandfather Mountain is already reporting increasingly vibrant color above 5,000 feet, with reds and yellows beginning to appear.

Explore Asheville’s Fall Color Hunters are also spotting early color at:
🍂 Price Lake — some bright reds
🍂 Linville Falls. — early yellows, but still roughly 10 days from stronger color
🍂 Raven Rocks Overlook — color beginning in the valleys below
🍂 Blue Ridge Parkway — scattered reds and golds, with plenty of green remaining

SO WHEN WILL PEAK HIT?
🍁 Oct. 2–11: Highest elevations — Grandfather Mountain, Rough Ridge, Beech Mountain and high Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks

🍁 Oct. 12–18: Look around the 5,000-foot elevations as color continues moving downhill.

🍁 Oct. 19–25: Watch Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and other areas around 3,000–4,000 feet.

🍁 Oct. 26–early November: Asheville and lower mountain valleys should increasingly come into their own.

Fall color expert Dr. Howard Neufeld says the warm September has delayed the progression, with some mid-elevation areas potentially running about a week behind normal.

Dr. Robert Bardon of NC State is also predicting a more “patchwork” season because heat, drought and rainfall have varied across North Carolina — meaning one mountain could look spectacular while another nearby isn't quite there yet.

👉 If someone you know has an October mountain trip planned, get this to them before they start changing reservations based on an old fall-color calendar.
And remember: Mother Nature doesn't take reservations.

😂 These are the best current estimates, not guaranteed peak dates.
