❤️ Borries Through the Generations: Chapter Three ❤️

As Rose stepped into retirement, Ernie and Arlene Grasseschi continued working alongside their children, passing down the recipes, work ethic, and love for Borries that would carry the family business into its third generation.

Debbie Thomas, Barry Grasseschi, and Cindy Berg eventually took the reins from their parents, continuing what their grandparents had started in 1938. They had grown up in the restaurant, learning firsthand what it takes to keep a family business going—hard work, a little patience, and a whole lot of heart.

These old articles capture so much of our story: family meetings, meals made from scratch, employees who became family, and generations working side by side. The pictured management team had 177 combined years of service—what a testament to their dedication! ❤️

Each generation has given a piece of itself to Borries. We’re proud to share this chapter and grateful to everyone who was part of it.

We are heartbroken to hear the news of Dante’s closing. ❤️ For over 30 years, they’ve helped make Great Falls a place where people could gather, celebrate, and make memories around a table. Our hearts are with their owners, staff, and everyone who loved walking through their doors.

As a fellow locally owned restaurant, this hits close to home. We know the long hours, the hard decisions, and the love that goes into a place like this.

Supporting local matters. Behind every local business are people who live here, raise their families here, and care about this community. When you’re able, choosing a local restaurant or shop helps keep those places—and the jobs and traditions they create—part of our hometown. Sharing a post, recommending a favorite, or leaving a kind review matters, too.

To everyone at Dante’s: thank you for all you’ve given Great Falls. Sending love from our Borries family to yours. ❤️

Meet the second generation—Borrie’s son Ernie and daughter Rose. This brother-and-sister team carried on what their family started, working together to grow the business and make their own lasting mark on Borries. Also pictured is Ernie’s wife, Arlene. ❤️

Ernie and Rose’s teamwork and dedication were a huge part of Borries’ success. When we look at these photos, we see the family who helped build something we’re so proud to continue today.

From one generation to the next, every chapter has helped make Borries what it is—and this chapter will always hold a special place in our story.

It all started with these two. ❤️

Pictured here are Emilio “Borrie” and Anna Grasseschi—the first generation of Borries, established in 1938.

They couldn’t have known how many meals, celebrations, friendships, and family memories would follow. What they started would become a gathering place for generations—and a story our family is proud to continue.

Now, 88 years and four generations later, we look at this photo with gratitude. For our beginnings, for the people who have kept Borries going, and for every person who has pulled up a chair along the way.

Look what we found! ❤️

This old Great Falls Tribune article says it perfectly: “Borrie’s Restaurant: A Family Affair.”

From Borrie and Anna opening the original restaurant in the 1930s, to Ernie and Rosie, then Cindy, Barry and Debbie—and now the fourth generation carrying it forward—Borrie’s has always been built around family.

The best part? So much of what was written then is still true today. We’re still cutting our own steaks, rolling ravioli, making sauces, soups and dressings from scratch, and serving the recipes generations of families have grown up enjoying.

Nearly 88 years later, it’s still a family affair—and our customers are part of that family. We’re incredibly proud of where Borrie’s began and grateful to everyone who has helped keep this Great Falls tradition alive. ❤️
