Congratulations to Hoover head basketball coach Krystle Johnson! 👏

The Bucs surprised the championship coach and former star player Friday night with a special jersey retirement ceremony before the football game against Muscle Shoals, which Hoover won 14-8.

Johnson, who also teaches math at the school, has coached Hoover to six straight Class 7A championships and eight in the past 10 seasons. She has compiled a 419-70 record in 14 seasons as a head coach, the past 10 seasons at her alma mater.

As a player, Johnson hit two free throws with a second remaining in the 2001 championship game to seal the Bucs' first girls basketball state title with a 42-40 victory over Decatur.
