There is no mystery as to who sells the world's greatest fries (IYKYK). But did the French really invent "French" fries. Maybe. Maybe not.

The great debate is between Belgium and France. Both countries have a long-standing tradition of serving fried spuds. Belgium claims they invented the savory treat in the late 1600s. French historical records show that fried potato "street food" was sold by peddlers in the late 18th century.

During World War I, Belgian troops who served fries spoke French. So, American troops referred to the dish as "French Fries" rather than "Belgian Fries".

What is NOT debatable is the power that McDonald's French fries have on the Ronald McDonald House Alabama every year. Our local McDonald's restaurants donate 1¢ for every pound of French fries sold in our area to the House. A penny? It may not sound like a lot but last year, those pounds of fries and pennies totaled $156,000 in donations!!

Thank you for buying the world's greatest fries. And don't forget to "round up" for the Ronald McDonald House when you place your order. Fries or not. :-)

Happy July 4th Weekend, everyone! We had a great time last week at I Love America Night in Vestavia Hills. What a turnout! There were over 8,000 people and 70 sponsors with tents and goodies supporting the event. Ms Alabama, Ruby Tilghman, made an appearance and took photos with the kids. Congrats to the Vestavia Chamber of Commerce, the city of Vestavia and their police and fire departments for such a great time. Also, shout out to Zoe Harris for some of the cool photos.

We had a great time at Red, White & Boom in Hueytown this past weekend celebrating the 250th birthday of the good ole U.S.A. Grimace clearly got in on the act. McDonald's has been a part of the Hueytown community for 40 years and it was awesome to once again support this event. Fun fact: the official name of a 250th birthday is a "semiquincentennial". Try saying that three times, fast. Have a great Fourth of July, everyone.
