Bill Oakley’s American Culinary Curiosity Dinner is coming to Helen for two nights only.

Join Bill Oakley, former head writer of The Simpsons and current food personality, alongside Chef Rob McDaniel for six courses inspired by some of America’s most unusual, hyper-regional culinary specialties.

This isn’t your typical Helen dinner. Rob and the Helen team will recreate a collection of uniquely American dishes rarely found outside the places they call home.

The catch? You won’t know what you’re eating until it arrives at the table. Each course will be revealed one at a time, with Bill sharing the story behind it along the way.

For the third year, all October long, we’re proud to partner with Forge Breast Cancer Survivor Center in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Meet Backwoods Barbie, our pink cocktail for the month — a pomegranate + oregano pisco sour that’s fruity and bright with a little herbal depth, making it the perfect transition from summer into fall.

A portion of the proceeds from every Backwoods Barbie sold this month will go directly to Forge, supporting the incredible work they do for breast cancer patients, survivors and their families throughout our community.

What a week, Birmingham. 🤍

A huge thank you to Southbound Food Festival🍴 for bringing together chefs, bartenders, pastry chefs, farmers, artists, makers, and hospitality folks from across our city and beyond. ✨

We had a blast hosting Roscoe Hall and goldenagew**egarden at Bayonet, while Helen joined Chef Bill Briand of little bird at Lovelight Farm Alabama for dinner under the stars. Chef Candace Foster also joined the Heritage Dinner: Chicken & the Egg, celebrating Southern food traditions. Emily and Rob also managed to slip into a few other events throughout the week.

Take a peek at just a few highlights from an incredible week of food, art, collaboration, and community.

Under the Stars at Lovelight Farm. ✨

For a HOSTED, southboundfoodfest collaborative series, Helen joined Chef Bill Briand of Little Bird at Lovelight Farm for a special evening centered around the season, the farm, and cooking over fire.

A long table beneath the trees, food inspired by Alabama farms and the Gulf Coast, w**e poured throughout the night, and a kitchen set up under the open sky.

Thank you to Bill and the Little Bird team for joining us, to Lovelight Farm for welcoming everyone in, and to all of our guests who made the trip out to spend the evening with us.
