It’s 3pm, and for the last time ever, the doors at Country Skip Diner & Cafe are closed.
Today was our final day, and honestly, none of us were prepared for how emotional this goodbye would truly be. We knew this day was coming, but standing here now after locking these doors for the very last time feels absolutely heartbreaking.
From 6am this morning until 3pm this afternoon, y’all showed us more love than we could have ever imagined. Seeing the parking lot full one last time, hearing all the stories, the laughter, the hugs, the prayers, the tears, and seeing so many familiar faces walk through our doors today meant more to us than words will ever be able to say.
Country Skip Diner & Cafe was never just a restaurant to us. It was a place where friendships were made, families gathered after church, truckers stopped for breakfast before long drives, farmers came in before sunrise, and neighbors became family. It was early mornings making biscuits and gravy before daylight, coffee cups always full, hearing the bell on the door ring all day long, and knowing exactly what so many of y’all ordered before you even sat down.
For years, this place has been part of our lives every single day. We watched kids grow up inside these booths. We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and holidays with so many of you. We cried together during hard times and laughed together during good times. This diner held so many memories within these walls, and now having to say goodbye to it is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do.
Walking through the empty dining room this afternoon after everyone left completely shattered us. The silence hurts. The chairs are pushed in for the last time. The grill is cold. The coffee pots are empty. The lights are off. And a chapter of our lives that meant everything to us has now come to an end.
We want every single person who ever supported us to know how thankful we truly are. Thank you for every meal you bought, every tip left for our staff, every prayer spoken over us, every kind word, every hug, every recommendation to friends and family, and every moment you chose to spend with us. Y’all gave this little diner life. Without this community, Country Skip would have never been what it became.

Even though the doors are closed now, the memories made here will live in our hearts forever. A place like Country Skip Diner & Cafe can never truly be replaced because it wasn’t just a business — it was home.
Tonight our hearts are heavy, and there will definitely be tears shed as we leave this building for the last time. But we leave knowing we were blessed with the best customers and community anyone could ever ask for.
