Introducing: Sassafras Studies
Through food I have rediscovered poetry and nature and patience and through that I have begun to feel a closeness with creation that had been painfully absent. I’ve learned to love myself again. And pondering this as a whole has left unanswered questions so I’ve thought more deeply and dissected the parts which has left more questions… about morality and God and friendship and family and kindness and anger and sadness and… And so I welcome you to join me.
Sassafras Studies are intimate, eight-person inquiries conducted through cooking, observation, conversation, and the shared table. Each Study begins with a question rather than a lesson, and concludes with a shared meal.
This is not a traditional cooking class, though you may pick-up a helpful trick, and peel a vegetable or two. It is three hours to fall in love with yourself again through humble food and quiet conversation. Together may we discover a new perspective in the power of the table… the infinite beauty in an apple, an oyster, a hen, a winter squash…
