I’ve been thinking about love this week and naturally have been thinking about what it is I love about Cold Mountain, so I have a story time for you. I love the space we have made, I love to constantly be creating and learning what I am capable of. The thing I love most is all of you. Our staff over these 27 years, who are forever cafe family and our guests who have become friends. I have celebrated, mourned and leaned on you through life’s highs and lows and my cafe family is always there. We have had weddings, first dates and baby showers and also hugged and fed people who have come in times of great sorrow. So the story is, someone told me their sister’s birthday wish was a lunch item we haven’t had on the menu for years and would I make it for her. I was so delighted by this request and it made me feel like maybe what we do does matter. Sometimes it’s the little things that make your heart swell. After all, TO FEED IS TO LOVE!

***Update*** Division of Forest & Lands has approved the fire departments application to sponsor the Halloween Bonfire, Friday at 6:00!!!
The Selectboard has given their support. Spread the word that clean, untreated wood or brush less than 5” in diameter can start being brought to the site on the far end of the Dow Strip.

Due to the recent rains and an amendment to the Governor's Burn Ban, the Halloween Bonfire in Franconia is most likely going to happen!!!! Nothing is official until we receive approval from the Fire Marshals office and the Selectboard holds a discussion at its meeting on Monday. But all signs are pointing towards it happening, but we will need brush. Don't bring anything yet, but get ready. Update will come Monday afternoon.

Important reminder: This is not a complete lift of the ban, it is very much in effect. The amendment addresses publicly sponsored events with a heavy fire department involvement and and application and approval from the fire marshals office.
