Hello hello. Today is Bo’s 7th anniversary. Seven years for a restaurant, similar to dog years, is approximately 43 years. So it’s been awhile, and I’m so happy to report that things are going well. So well that I’ve been able to indulge in taking care of myself while I navigated one of the worst depressive episodes I’ve had in a long time. Naively, I felt impermeable to watching innocent people die on American streets, to Epstein and to my personal boogeymen I’ve been chasing down in a book I started writing this year. Writing my book and unburdening myself quickly became myself unraveling. What a privilege it was to have the structure of Bo’s around me, cushioning a descent that sometime felt like plummeting. All the thanks goes to the people that work at Bo’s, especially Kathy who steered our ship to sparkling seas while I was barely capable to steer a canoe.
To celebrate we are having breakfast for dinner on Thursday 4/30, the last day of April. And, because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness month, we will be donating a portion of the night’s proceeds to Kids Center, which provides services to children impacted by abuse. Something important to me, and to Bo’s.
I’ve never felt so supported, and while I feel a pressure to “feel better” to ease any burden I’m making on my people, I know that pressure isn’t coming from them, but from myself. And I know it’s bu****it so I’m working on not being a little B to myself. Hence the video, me unburdening into a puddle in magical Shasta. Thank you for supporting us and for getting what Bo’s is all about. To end on a light note I’ll remind you that google tells me 90% of restaurants don’t make it this long these days and we are still here baby 🫡
