I had to hit up some more IL Valley Pizza! Uncle Chuck’s Pizzeria at 328 Third St. suite 3
Lasalle IL kept getting referred to me over and over. So I not only tried it once….but went back again a week later!! This place is making some great pizza and both times I went with the New York style pizza! 🍕 The first trip Allister and I went with just pepperoni. The second trip Cheri and I went with Sausage, mushroom, & black olive. Both were So good!!!The crust, the sauce, the cheese….We can’t wait to try their other pizza styles!!! You also have to get a cocktail at the Back Room bar located within the Pizzeria!! I thought it was cool the various pizza boxes decor they had on their walls in the entry. You order at the counter and are welcome to eat outside, inside, or carry out. They give you a buzzer so you know when your order is ready although we dined in and they delivered it right to our table. Awesome Pizza and Cocktails these guys know what they are doing and you won’t be disappointed!!! Cheers

Club Arcada Speakeasy & Restaurant in St. Charles, IL. I found this place over the winter and had it on my list to make it to for a Sinatra Sunday. They offer a Rat Pack Age Special menu along
with their full menu. Guests can enjoy some live Sinatra live music from 1:30pm- 4pm. This is a really great place with great food, cocktails, ambience, and of course music! Cheri had an Espresso Martini & I of course had to try their Old Fashioned. For an appetizer we had Caprese which was cleverly served in a Martini glass. For my wife’s main entree she went with Pasta Pillows which was ricotta stuffed gnocchi covered with chunky vodka sauce. I went with one of the specials The O’l Blue eyes which was cheese ravioli with Sunday pork gravy, Ron’s famous meatballs, Taylor street sausage and peppers, Italian salad, & garlic bread. A lot of food neither of us could finish! But as Cheri says there is always room for desert…which she enjoyed a chocolate chunk brownie! This fantastic find always has something going on and is typically open Thursday & Friday 5pm- 11:30pm Saturday 5:30pm -11:30pm and Sundays 1pm - 8pm. This place was a lot of fun! We enjoyed the regulars who frequent Sinatra Sundays and are not timid about getting up to dance! Definitely check out their website and find a fun evening or Sunday afternoon to make a trip. Ours was a perfect rainy sunday to spend a few hours going back in time. Cheers

Over the weekend my lovely wife and I made the trip to Oglesby IL to one of my local favorites Garzanelli’s Supper Club! This fantastic treasure is always busy & I just absolutely love the sign on the front of this building along with everything about the atmosphere inside. Entering this building takes me back to a time when life was not the full speed ahead that we face on the outside in our daily lives. You check in at the reception desk and as I always find there will be a wait. Which I am totally fine with that l, because I know I will enjoy a cocktail or two at their bar. It’s part of the experience just chilling at their rounded bar with social conversation, drinks, & people watching. Friendly service, good cocktails & food, what else could I ask for! It’s always hard for me to pass up the Family Style chicken with spaghetti & tortellini. It’s so so much food a “Doggy Bag” will be needed. I love the fact they have bags here for the left overs such as chicken and fries. It brings back memories from my childhood taking home leftovers from local supper clubs & taverns and the “Doggy Bags”…most having a cartoon style dog on the bag. Anyway they have something for everyone on the menu and I personally have not had a meal here I wasn’t pleased with. So if you haven’t experienced Garzanelli’s you gotta make the trip! Cheers

This place has been on my list for sometime! Bianchi’s Pizza Downtown in Ottawa IL. We recently made the trip with our boys and their lady friends. The pizza has to be solid if they have two locations in Ottawa.🤷‍♂️They advertise “World Famous” so it has to be! 🏆 This pizza has been going strong since 1920!💪 We walked in and observed that you order at the counter and then you are seated. The friendly gentleman taking our order recommended we get a cup of hot sauce for a condiment to our pizza beings we were rookies there. Anyway the pizza is great! A nice crisp thin crust with a unique savory sauce and the cheese was great. I personally liked that it wasn’t greasy and the hot sauce added a little zest to it.🍕🔥The pizza is cut square style and we will definitely make a trip back! Cheers

We were in Galesburg IL and I found a place that has been going since 1921. The Coney Island which from the entrance you have taken a travel back in time. This place is full of antiques and treasures collected from the past! It has changed hands several times over the years, but keeping the name, recipes, and nostalgic character for generations to enjoy! You order at the counter for either take out or dine in. And of course they’re famous for their Coney Dog🌭. Which absolutely “deal me in” I went with the Coney dog 🌭special, with a bag of chips, and a soda which they offer a huge selection of your typical choices , or some rarer bottle varieties. I went with the Grape Fanta Soda which I was unaware they make one. My wife went with a Chicago Dog, chips, and she went traditional with just a 7up. I was shocked that the total was only like $17.50! We chose to dine in and sat at the counter. Which you could feel a time lapse back in time…to a time when life was simpler. We both were very pleased with our dog choices and enjoyed conversation about the treasured artifacts in this living museum. A table of people were leaving as we were the last customers of the day, which they close at 7pm. They are open 7 days a week opening at 11am -7pm M-F, 11am -5pm Sat ,and 11am-3pm Sun. I Definitely will be making a trip back as there are many more Hot Dog 🌭 choices I gotta try! Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.

On a recent weekend day trip to New Glarus WI. we stumbled on the Ding-A-Ling Supper Club. This supper club has Hanover on the sign but is actually in Orfordville WI. When in Wisconsin a simple rule “Do what the Romans do…I mean the Wisconsin natives do!” I have found it necessary to go with the WI style Old Fashioned which is made with Brandy and I have grown accustomed to it…even as a Bourbon lover. This place was in the middle of no where, but we absolutely love to find these hidden treasures. The pricing was very fair and our service was great! The true Wisconsin hospitality! I when with the prime rib and it had great flavor! I was a little tenatibe because it appeared it might be to done but it was spot on, medium rare on the inside just like I love! 👍
So if you are in their neck of the woods, make a stop by. If you time your trip on the first Saturday of the month you can take on their all you can eat Prime Rib Special!

The Club Lago in Chicago! This place has been going since 1952. You totally walk back into the 50’s and right into a setting which makes you feel like you belong. Great service, great food, and we really enjoyed the friendly staff! We were served a bread basket which was followed by our salads. 🥖 🥗 We couldn’t pass on an Appetizer so we went with the Calamari! It was a lot and we could not finish it. For our dinner the boys each went with the chicken Parmesan, Cheri went with the Tortellini , & I was in a Spaghetti mood. 🍝It was very good and would place Club Lago on the list to return!! It was kind of a small place, but in a good way, like you feel you were home kinda place! And yes….absolutely yes, I could not pass on an Old Fashioned! Which was spot on! 👍
I didn’t get the best pics inside as I was preoccupied with our next day flight outta Chicago l, which was a story of its own. 🤦‍♂️
If you are looking for a good time tested Italian gem to dine at. Club Lago is located River north at 331 W. Superior St. Chicago. 👍👍
