🥗 Who doesn’t love a good Caesar salad?

Let’s be honest…everyone has opinions about the best Caesar dressing. 😄

Our family’s favorite has always been Brianna’s Asiago Caesar. It’s creamy, tangy, cheesy, and absolutely delicious.

But when I started paying closer attention to ingredients and sodium, I realized it wasn’t something I wanted to use every week.

So…I went into the kitchen. 👩‍🍳

A little more heart-healthy olive oil.
A little less sodium.
Real cheeses.
Fresh lemon.
Greek yogurt for creaminess.
A boost of fiber.
And simple ingredients I actually recognize.

The result?

🥗 All the bright, tangy Asiago Caesar flavor we love…with a cleaner ingredient list and a recipe I feel good serving my family.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy it is tossed with:
✨ Protein or gluten-free pasta
✨ Grilled chicken
✨ Crisp romaine
✨ Fresh Parmesan
✨ Crumbled bacon
✨ Homemade sourdough croutons (or crunchy sourdough crumbs!)
✨ Roasted sunflower seeds
✨ Plenty of fresh cracked black pepper

It’s hearty enough for meal prep, perfect for lunches, and tastes like something you’d order at your favorite café.

Because healthy eating shouldn’t mean giving up the foods you love—it just means making them work a little harder for you. 💚

What’s YOUR favorite Caesar dressing? Are you team creamy…or team vinaigrette?

🍅🍝 Summer Garden Chicken Sausage Pasta 🌿

This is one of those meals that looks like it came from a restaurant but is simple enough for a weeknight.

Sweet burst cherry tomatoes, tender zucchini, lean Italian-style chicken sausage, garlic, Parmesan, and a silky buttery olive oil sauce… all tossed with your favorite pasta.

✨ The best part? Use what works for your family!

✔️ Gluten-free pasta
✔️ High-protein pasta
✔️ Fresh homemade pasta if you’re feeling adventurous

There’s no “right” way—just delicious, real food made with real ingredients.

Finish each bowl with:
🧀 Fresh Parmesan
🌿 Basil
✨ A drizzle of balsamic glaze
🫒 Optional extra virgin olive oil

💚 Meg’s Kitchen Tip: Add a little fresh lemon zest right before serving. It brightens every bite without adding sodium.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Feeding a crowd? This recipe doubles beautifully! Make a double batch for 6–8 servings, making it perfect for larger families, Sunday dinners, or meal prep for the week.

Because healthy food shouldn’t feel restrictive—it should be simple, satisfying, and something your family asks for again.

🍏 Grandma’s Recipes… Made Better 💜

Who else grew up loving Snickers Salad? 🙋🏼‍♀️

It’s sweet. It’s creamy. It’s crunchy. It’s the side dish that somehow always ended up next to the baked beans at every family picnic. 😂

But let’s be honest…

Do we really need a candy bar full of ingredients we can’t pronounce to get that same flavor?

✨ I don’t think so.

So I gave this Midwest classic the Meg’s Kitchen Glow-Up!

✔️ Crisp apples (or green grapes)
✔️ Creamy Greek yogurt
✔️ Natural peanut butter
✔️ Roasted peanuts
✔️ Dark chocolate
✔️ Honey instead of refined sugar
✔️ Optional protein & fiber boost to help keep you full

It still tastes like the nostalgic treat you remember… just made with ingredients that actually bring something to the table.

Because around here, we don’t believe healthy food has to taste like cardboard—we believe in taking the recipes we grew up with and making them a little better, one ingredient at a time. 💜

👇 Tell me…
Are you Team Apples 🍎 or Team Grapes 🍇 in your Snickers Salad?

🥜🌶️ Thai Peanut Crunch Chicken Ramen Salad 🌶️🥜

This isn’t your average salad…

It’s crunchy. It’s creamy. It’s sweet. It’s a little spicy. It’s packed with protein and fiber. And it’s one of those recipes that somehow disappears at cookouts, family parties, and meal prep lunches alike.

The best part? It tastes like takeout—but it’s made with real ingredients you can feel good about.

💜 Meg’s Kitchen glow-up includes:
🥬 Crunchy tri-color cabbage slaw
🍗 Lean chicken
🫘 Cannellini beans for extra fiber and staying power
🫛 Protein-packed edamame
🥒 Fresh cucumbers
🍊 Sweet mandarin oranges
🥜 Roasted peanuts or cashews
🍜 Toasted ramen for that irresistible crunch

🥣 Homemade Thai peanut sweet chili dressing with fresh lime, ginger, garlic, and a little orange zest

No cilantro here—we swapped it for fresh parsley and a touch of mint so everyone at the table can enjoy it!

✨ Meal Prep Tip: Keep the dressing, toasted ramen, and nuts separate until you’re ready to eat. Everything stays crisp and fresh for days, making this one of my favorite grab-and-go lunches.

Whether you’re packing lunches, feeding teenagers, bringing a dish to a summer BBQ, or just trying to eat a little better without giving up big flavor, this one checks every box.

Because healthy food shouldn’t feel like punishment—it should make you excited for leftovers. 💜

🌾💜 STOP THROWING AWAY YOUR SOURDOUGH DISCARD! 💜🌾

That jar of discard sitting in your fridge is about to become one of the easiest, crunchiest, most satisfying snacks in your kitchen.

This Sourdough Discard Granola is naturally sweetened, packed with wholesome ingredients, freezer-friendly, and perfect for busy mornings or afternoon snack attacks.

✨ Enjoy it:
🥣 Over Greek yogurt
🥛 With milk
🍓 On top of fresh fruit
🍦 Sprinkled over homemade ice cream
👊 Straight from the jar while standing in the kitchen (no judgment here)

What I love most about this recipe is that it takes simple pantry staples and turns them into something that tastes like a treat while still nourishing your body.

💡 Meg’s Kitchen Tips:
✔️ Press the granola firmly into the pan before baking for bigger crunchy clusters.
✔️ Add collagen peptides after baking for an easy protein boost.
✔️ Let it cool completely before breaking it apart—this is the secret to that irresistible crunch!

Unlike many store-bought granolas loaded with refined sugars and mystery ingredients, this version uses ingredients you can actually pronounce and probably already have in your kitchen.

Because around here, we believe in:

💜 Grandma’s recipes made better.
💜 Less waste.
💜 Real ingredients.
💜 Food that tastes amazing and loves you back.

🥒 Meg’s Kitchen Tips

✔️ Add extra dill if you’re a pickle lover.

✔️ Sprinkle with additional ranch seasoning immediately after cooking.

✔️ Want a “fried pickle” vibe? Add 1 Tbsp finely crushed pork rinds or gluten-free breadcrumbs during the last 2 minutes of cooking.

✔️ Store uncovered until completely cool, then loosely covered. Airtight containers can soften them.

Sometimes healthy eating isn’t about giving up your favorite flavors—it’s about finding better ways to enjoy them.

✨ Grandma’s recipes made better.
✨ Real ingredients.
✨ Big flavor.

🍓 Summer desserts just hit different when they’re homemade.

There’s something nostalgic about strawberry shortcake. Sweet, juicy berries. Fluffy whipped cream. A warm, buttery biscuit fresh from the oven.

At Meg’s Kitchen, we gave this classic a little makeover without losing what makes it so special.

💜 Made with sourdough discard (because we never let good starter go to waste!)
💜 Sweetened with organic cane sugar instead of refined white sugar
💜 Optional gluten-free ingredients
💜 Fresh strawberries, real butter, and homemade vanilla whipped cream

The sourdough discard adds just a hint of richness and tenderness, creating the perfect flaky shortcake that soaks up all those delicious strawberry juices.

It’s proof that healthier doesn’t have to mean boring—and homemade will always beat store-bought.

Whether you’re headed to a backyard BBQ, celebrating the Fourth of July, or just looking for a simple summer treat, this recipe is guaranteed to become a family favorite.

Because around here…
