Heavy hearts here at Kaya’s. We are all devastated about the passing of Noemi Zambrano, better know to all of us as “Mimi”….

I met Mimi as an 18 year old knucklehead when I landed a job at Veggieworks. From day one, she was a grandmother to me, and little did I know at the time that she would be such a huge part of my life.

I worked with her at Veggieworks for 5 years, and when I opened Kaya’s, we worked together for another 15 years. Her son Kaly began working at Kayas, and has been here with me every day for the past 16 years as the backbone of the kitchen.

Needless to say, her and her family have been a huge, important part of my life and Kaya’s Kitchen over the last 25 years.

Mimi was simply the best. She was a grandmother to us all, and words cannot express how much she will be missed.

Please keep Kaly and his family in your hearts and prayers as we try to move forward though this difficult time.
