“In my everyday life I typically don’t focus on one medium. I believe one can have many creative
outlets, although wood burning has been one of my favorite art forms over the years. The smell
of pine or birch burning as lines are etched reminds me of so many hiking, camping, kayaking,
and biking excursions I’ve taken. The wood burning process is similar to drawing, my other
favorite art form– except much slower, almost meditative, and less forgiving when mistakes are
made. There have been numerous tidbits in my life that inspire me to design, draw, or create–
but nature always gives me that creative spark that I need.“
