*knock* *knock* Hello DTB family. You still there?
It’s been over a good long three years since I’ve written anything here.
We’ve been busy traveling and also enjoying time with our daughter. You could kind of say it’s just us catching up on so many lost opportunities to be with her during those uber crazy busy years while we ran the drive-thru and downtown café.
Today, we had another dose of beautiful PNW weather - a perfect day to go outside and get milk tea. I decided to drop by a local shop for my first time, and it was both very rewarding and humbling, bumping into several of you. It was like a wonderful reminder of all the smiles that we used to see on a daily basis. It meant a lot to me that you honestly even remembered us, because it seems like so much time has passed.
We wanted to take this opportunity to say "Hi" and catch you all up on what we’ve been doing. The most important gift we want to give our daughter is the opportunity/experience of seeing the world. We spent quite a lot of time in Europe (Rome, Venice, and even Iceland to name a few), popped by Dubai, hopped around everywhere in Asia, and squeezed in some”Down Under“ time.
Ultimately, the place where we spent the majority of our time at, was back in Taiwan - getting to be intimately familiar with all the different regions of such a beautiful and globally important island (shoot, we almost moved back there), rich in history with both its people AND food. And I’ll just stress THE food THE most, because I have the gut growth to prove it!
We arrived back in Bellevue several weeks ago for the start of the new school year. It got us thinking… should we open another store??
Obviously it won’t be your standard brick & mortar shop/café. Instead, we like our current flexible schedule without the headache of finding/training employees, so we’re considering running the operation out of a ghost kitchen (online ordering, pickup's, deliveries, etc). This way, we’ll have greater control over our hours and we can continue to balance out family and business.
We hope you and your families have been doing well during these past challenging years. We have missed you. Have a wonderful weekend!
