I wanted to update everyone on what is happening with my building that was destroyed by fire on January 27, 2023

This has been a process and will continue to be a process. I hired a company that will do full renovations from beginning to end. First step was to have a Structural Engineer look at the structure to see if it structural sound. The engineers report has declared the building not structural sound, so the building has to be torn down. Once that is done I will move to the next step. An Architect to help me design the building back. I will keep you all updated on the process.

My son, my life ❤️

Christopher Despain Walters, 34, of Big Island, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 11, 2023. He made his big entrance into this world on August 5, 1988 in Roanoke, VA. Christopher is the only loving child of Blaine Hoyt Walters and Helen Koons Walters. He was greeted in heaven by his grandparents, James Robert Koons and Florence Daugherty Koons (Becky); Despain William Walters and Katie Ruth Cartee Walters; as well as cousin, Ayana Raelle Koons. Those who loved him knew him as Chris Chris or Duke. Duke was a name given to him by his Grandfather Despain. Christopher had an unforgettable smile with a laugh that sent warmth to your soul. There was never a dream too big or an adventure too small for his heart to follow. Chris had a bear hug that felt like home and a larger-than-life personality. Laughter followed wherever Chris would go. He had an uncanny ability to find the humor in every situation. Chris never met a stranger and always went out of his way to help others. Chris lives on in his son’s C**t Despain Michael Walters, Aonor Blaine Christopher Walters and their mother Andriana “Ana” Walters Goff. His love will follow them always. In addition to his sons, he leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and loving cousins. He leaves behind his faithful dog, Pig, who will be lost without him. Chris’s life story does not stop with his passing. His legacy and testimony of overcoming his demons will live past his time. His family and friends will share the triumph he held in his last moments. Forever in our hearts and memories Christopher Despain. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St. Bedford with Chaplain Mike Smith officiating. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Friday, at Burch-Messier Walnut Sr. Chapel. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 586-7360.

This is one of the hardest post to write:

As you all know on Friday morning my life changed forever. I received a knock at my door to inform me my building was on fire. I thought it was my garage because I was home. Wanda Goff said no it’s your building downtown. I had the worst panic attack and couldn’t breathe. Thoughts run through my head. OMG is everyone safe. What happen? Then I seen a picture of the front corner of my building was on fire. I prayed lord please don’t let it damage anyone’s business and protect those that are at work.
The ride to Bedford seem like it took forever (Not your driving Steve)… All I could think was what happen and how did it happen but still thinking when I get there the fire will be out and I will have probably water damage and clean up. (I got this) Preparing myself that it’s gonna be ok. When I arrived to Bedford and seen what happen I was totally devastated and thought I was having a heart attack. My insides started to tremble. The overwhelming feeling of loss. My building and my business going! Just a shell standing. I was not prepared for this..
I was devastated to see that it also involved the building next door. Will Yeager the owner of Peace of Mind Property Services INC. I know Will was devastated because we are all working for the same goals in life. Following are Dreams. Thank you Will for what you said we are all ok and nobody was hurt.
I Thank God for the Bedford County Fire & Rescue Department. People if you don’t believe in God I will give you some insight of his hand at work on Friday! The Bedford Fire department was coming back from another call seen smoke coming from downtown Bedford and went to see what it was before they ever got the 911 call. That is God showing up right on time… I Thank God because what Satan meant to destroy and it would of destroyed more buildings if they didn’t show up when they did!!!! I love each and everyone of you! You all are my Heroes because you saved my friends buildings who I deeply love… If any of you don’t ever feel loved come and see me because I will tell you how much you are loved..❤️
This is to all the people who was waiting for me to arrive in the Bedford Country parking lot. I truly love you all you showed me your kindness, love and support let me cry on your shoulders, prayed for me, held my hand you was just there for me! I am so Blessed!❤️

One person who I love and Thank is Crystal Johnson. She tried to get in touch with everyone I knew at one time in my life to make sure I was ok. I can’t imagine how she felt thinking I was in my building at the time of the fire… we both might need counseling together.❤️ you have been with me every step of this horrible journey.

This is the first of many I will post.. I am just so Blessed.. Please keep me in your prayers….
