🌱 What’s Growing at Persimmon Ridge?

Week 1 (This Week)

🌞 The heat may be in full swing, but don’t put those gardening gloves away! July is when smart gardeners begin planning for an incredible fall harvest.

🌱 Plant This Week

🥬 Kale
🥬 Swiss Chard
🥬 Collards
🥕 Carrots
🩷 Beets

These cool-season crops often taste even sweeter after a light frost!

🧑‍🌾 Garden Chores This Week

✅ Harvest vegetables every day or two to keep plants producing.
🍅 Pick tomatoes as soon as they begin to blush to help prevent cracking.
💧 Water deeply in the early morning instead of lightly every day.
🌿 Pull weeds before they have a chance to drop more seeds.
🌸 Deadhead flowers to encourage continuous blooms.
🥒 Check squash plants for squash bugs and squash vine borers.
🍓 Trim off old strawberry runners unless you’re growing new plants.
🥬 Add a layer of mulch around vegetables to help conserve moisture during the summer heat.

💚 Garden Tip: If you’re planting seeds during July heat, water the soil before planting and keep it consistently moist until the seedlings emerge.

Love this! Here’s a list of local farmstands that we know of so far. If you are a local farmstand or micro bakery, reach out!

I’ve been ask if I have a list of all the local farm stands/ micro bakeries. This is what I have currently and I’m sure there are a lot I’m missing so I’ll update it as needed. But here ya go Lawrence co. Go support local!

Also I highly encourage local stands to visit homestead indiana page and have your stand added to their map

Bedford community…thank you! ❤️

What an incredible day! From our very first customers this morning to restocking at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, baking again at noon, and restocking once more at 2:00…you kept us busy all day long!

The smiles, the laughter, the families and friends exploring together, the pictures, Snaps, videos, and all the kind conversations truly filled our hearts with joy. Days like today are exactly why we do what we do.

Because of your amazing support, we are completely SOLD OUT! That means we’ll be closed tomorrow (Sunday, July 12) so we can catch our breath, restock, and get ready to do it all again for next weekend.

Thank you for supporting not only Persimmon Ridge Farm, but all of the amazing local makers who poured their hearts into this weekend. Your support means more than you know.

🎉 ONE. MORE. SLEEP!! 🎉

Tomorrow, the fun begins!

What you see tomorrow is just one day…but what you don’t see is months of hard work leading up to it.

The long days. The late nights. The endless planning. The second-guessing. The “Are we crazy?!” conversations between makers. 😂

Hundreds of pounds of flour have been baked into homemade goodies. Thousands of flower seeds have been planted and lovingly tended. Gardens have been nurtured. Products have been handcrafted. Recipes have been perfected. Every single item has been created with care, just for you and your family.

🌻 The Bedford Farmstand Trail is happening tomorrow from 8 AM–8 PM, rain or shine!

Our makers, growers, and farmers will be restocking throughout the day, so you’ll find fresh products, friendly faces, and plenty of reasons to keep exploring from stand to stand.
