Meet the Maker: Me! 🥰
Well…we’ve made it to the final Meet the Maker post, and I suppose it’s probably time I introduce myself! 😂
I’m an educator by trade, with experience teaching students from elementary school all the way through the college level. I currently work at a university in the education department, while also running our Farmstand here at Persimmon Ridge Farm.
Before that, I taught Culinary Arts, Family & Consumer Sciences, and Nutrition at the high school level. So, if you’ve ever wondered why I’m constantly experimenting with recipes, creating baking mixes, or finding some new thing to put on the Farmstand…well, now you know! 😉 I really do love teaching, creating, and making things people can enjoy.
And, as you’ve probably figured out by now, I LOVE my chickens. 🐔😂 And our cows aren’t too far behind. There’s just something about farm life that I absolutely love.
But more than anything, I love my family. ❤️
My husband is the builder of all my crazy projects, the fixer of whatever needs fixing, and the person who somehow keeps everything running smoothly around here while I’m off dreaming up my next idea. 😂 I truly couldn’t do this without him.
Our kids are growing up way too quickly and becoming adults of their own, but they continue to bring us so much joy. There is something pretty amazing about watching your kids grow into their own people and become productive, kind, independent members of society. 🥰
And I think that’s really the heart of why we do all of this.
Persimmon Ridge Farm isn’t just a Farmstand. It’s our family creating something together. It’s growing things, making things, learning things, working hard, trying new ideas, and sharing a little piece of our life with our community.
I love that the things you find on our Farmstand are things we’ve made, grown, raised, or created ourselves (or with the help of some pretty amazing local makers!). I love that we get to meet the people who stop by, hear your stories, and become a small part of your lives, too.
So, if you’ve been following along, thank you. ❤️ Whether you’ve bought a loaf of banana bread, grabbed an oatmeal cream pie, picked up some eggs, tried one of our mixes, admired the chickens, or simply stopped to say hello — you’re supporting our family, and we are incredibly grateful.
I’m Kimberly, the maker behind Persimmon Ridge Farm…with a husband who keeps the wheels on, kids who keep us smiling, chickens who keep me entertained, cows who keep us busy, and approximately 47,000 ideas for what I want to make next. 😂
