It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved friend Tom Cochran. Tom dedicated his time and energy for more than 24 years as the Airport Manager for the Raleigh County Memorial Airport, a position he upheld with limitless devotion. That was clear in both his actions and his words. He would often say, “if you loved your job, you would never work a day in your life,” and while we know what a hard worker he was, we’re sure his deep passion made it feel like he was never truly working.

The same dedication he brought to our airport was shared across so many aspects of his life. Tom had an unwavering passion not just for BKW, but for the entire field of aviation, for supporting the economic growth of his home here in Raleigh County and our greater region, and for the state of West Virginia. Whether planning for the future of aerospace opportunities in the area or mentoring others in the industry, his impact was far reaching and his passion unwavering.

Along the way he built a lifetime of friendships, both professionally and personally, that stayed with him for decades. Tom had a heart of gold and cared deeply for others, whether his co-workers, strangers, friends, or – most of all – his family, whom he was very proud of, and it showed daily.

Please keep Barb, Wendy, Susan, the entire Cochran family, and those who worked with him over the years in your thoughts and prayers. Tom will be missed by so many whose lives he touched along the way, and his legacy will continue to inspire others for years to come.
