Staff Highlight: Big Rock / KWLA Edition 🎣

Meet Meagan!

Meagan has been a server at Rhumbar for more than three years now and has become an absolutely essential part of our crew.

She may be a little quieter than some of her Rhumbar family members, but don’t let that fool you. Hardworking is personified in our sweet Meagan. The girl just doesn’t sit still.

Meagan is one of those people who seems to have her hands in every corner of Carteret County. If she’s not serving you dinner, there’s a decent chance she’s helping take care of you at the hospital, taking you out on the water for a charter, or competing in one of the biggest fishing tournaments of the year.

Today, she’s out on the water fishing in the KWLA Tournament and looking like an absolute dime while repping her Rhumbar hat.

In honor of Meagan—and all of the incredible ladies fishing KWLA and the crews competing in Big Rock this week—we’re running a drink feature this week:

Big Rock week is almost underway, which means a whole lot of people are about to spend their days in the exact same place: on the water.

Between finding a marlin, finding a docking spot, or finding a semi-secluded beach, you have enough things to worry about. Waiting for lunch shouldn’t be one of them.

With Dock & Go, you can order online, choose your pickup time up to 7 days in advance, pull up to one of our designated dock spots, and we’ll bring your order straight to the boat.

Sandwiches, chicken salad, pasta salad, charcuterie boards, Painkillers, Rhum Bar Punches, and all the other necessities required for a successful day offshore.

Finding a marlin requires patience. Finding your lunch shouldn’t.

We built this menu specifically for boat days. The menu features sandwiches, pasta salads, chicken salads, charcuterie boards, and, yes, to-go Painkillers and Rhum Bar Punches.

Here’s how it works: place your order ONLINE through the Dock & Go page on our website, pick your pickup time, pull into one of our designated dock spots, and our dock hand will bring your food straight out to you like the waterfront royalty you are. For our type A friends, you can place your order up to 7 days in advance as well!

No hunting for docking. No standing around hungry. No ruining the vibe by having to put shoes and shirts on.

*Official warning: Please keep an eye out for staff members attempting to quietly join your boat day as stowaways. Unfortunately for them, we do eventually notice when they stop coming back to work.

Anchored anywhere from the point at Carrot Island by The Rhumbar all the way down toward Moonrakers? Give us a call and, on demand, one of our tikis can bring you in for a tiki ride to lunch, dinner, or drinks at The Rhumbar. No fighting for slips. No dinghy shuffle. No stress.

Meet Timbo.

Timbo is one of our dishwashers here at The Rhumbar, and though you may not see him out on the floor much, he’s been one of the staples of this place for more than 10 years now. Behind every smooth service, clean plate, and organized kitchen is Timbo making sure things are running exactly how they should be. And trust us, he takes that responsibility VERY seriously. If something’s out of place, not clean enough, or not running right, Timbo will let us know.

Pictured here with his “favorite part of working at Rhumbar”: The Green Golf Cart. If you see Timbo whipping around Beaufort in the old greenie, give him a shout…and maybe remind him we still need him back at the restaurant eventually.

One night. Five courses. Two legends flying in from California.

On June 11th, we will be hosting an exclusive private wine dinner upstairs with McPrice Myers and J Dusi. It will be a curated five-course experience built around exceptional wines with thoughtful pairings. Sounds to us like it’s a night to be remembered.

This intimate dinner will take place in our private upstairs dining room with very limited seating available.

$150 per person + tax & 20% gratuity

I like that tuna. That is some NICE tuna….

Our local tuna comes in from our friends at Blue Ocean Market and Bogue Sound Seafood, is cut in-house by our crew and hits your plates before it’s even realized it’s out of the water. That’s about as fresh as it gets.

Tuna tacos. Tuna steak. Tuna sashimi. If you like it cooked “still swimming” we can do that. If you want it cooked well-done…we can recommend something else for you to try…
