September has a way of going unnoticed here. The trails thin out right after Labor Day, the paddle boats still run every morning, and the light off Hessian Lake starts doing something it doesn't do in July. Forty five minutes from the city, and somehow still the season nobody talks about.

Comment ESCAPE if you'd like the link to plan a stay.

A reminder that this is still just 45 minutes from the city.

No flights, no long weekend planning, just a short drive and a completely different pace. Bear Mountain in late August still has that quiet, green, unbothered feeling.

Comment VISIT and we'll send you everything first timers should know.

Only got one day for a hike? Don't waste it. We wrote up the exact route that gets you Appalachian Trail views, a summit, and a tower lookout over the Hudson Valley, all before lunch.

Here's the move.
☀️ Start early at the Perkins Memorial overlook
🥾 Take the easy loop back down by the lake
🍽️ Refuel with lunch at Hiker's Café
🌄 End the day with a paddle boat before sunset

Simple, but done right. Comment TRAIL and we will send you the full guide.

There's a stillness here before the season turns loud. Mist over Hessian Lake, the trees just starting to blaze, one quiet bench waiting for someone to sit and watch it happen.

That's the calm before Family Fall Fest & Craft Brew Garden rolls in, October 10 through 12, with live music, a beer garden full of New York breweries, and a Makers Fair worth wandering slowly.

Come for the color. Stay for everything else. Comment FALLFEST below and we'll send you all the details!

History is closer than you think.

1.Stony Point Lighthouse - The first lighthouse built on the Hudson River, first lit in December 1826 and used until 1925, set high above the water with sweeping views up and down the river. Bear Mountain Inn
2.The DeWint House - Built in 1700, it's the oldest surviving building in Rockland County, where George Washington stayed in 1780 and 1783, now brought to life through restored rooms and a nearby carriage house with exhibits. Bear Mountain Inn
3.The '76 House Tavern - A tavern tracing back to 1668, long associated with the Major John André story in Tappan, still known today for its fireplaces, garden patio, and live music. Bear Mountain Inn

Three stops, three centuries of history, all within reach of Bear Mountain Inn.
