But the fact that a pole is already there does not prove that it is in the right location, at the right height, in suitable condition, or capable of supporting the proposed system.

Before building the retrofit around existing poles, review:
• pole location and mounting height
• structural condition and loading
• existing brackets and attachment points
• wiring and electrical capacity
• fixture quantity, optics, and aiming
• predicted coverage, uniformity, and glare

Reusing sound infrastructure can create real value. Forcing the new design to preserve every existing condition can also carry old limitations into the new system.

𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝟬–𝟮. 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯.

Our team won Gold at the Stacks Cup in Baton Rouge—the Louisiana MiLP Dream Ticket automatic qualifier—earning our spot at the Minor League Pickleball Championships in Mesa in 2027. 🥇

We came back to win the final two games, then sealed the victory in the DreamBreaker.

That closes our 2026 MiLP campaign with two golds, one silver and one bronze. A season to be proud of, and a comeback we’ll remember.

For [Jennifer Van Kerkhove](urn:li:person:5zAyn4T1pm) and me, pickleball has brought so much into our lives.

The challenge of learning something new. The satisfaction of working toward a goal together. Teammates who become friends. Opponents we look forward to seeing again. And a community that gives us plenty of reasons to keep showing up.

Competition asks us to stay patient, trust each other and keep working when the score isn’t going our way. Sharing those experiences makes the rewards even better.

𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

For racquet sports, luminaires placed directly overhead above the playing area can interfere with the sightlines players use to track the ball.

The design should place fixtures alongside the court, with the mounting positions, optics, and aiming coordinated to deliver light into the playing area without creating an overhead field of bright sources.

That principle matters for indoor tennis, pickleball, and padel facilities because the ball moves through elevated sightlines and players repeatedly look upward during play.

Fixture placement is not just a ceiling-plan decision. It is a player-experience decision.

Indoors, the building becomes part of the lighting system. Ceiling height, structural locations, wall and ceiling reflectance, fixture placement, and player sightlines all shape the result.

Outdoors, the design has to respond to pole locations, mounting height, surrounding darkness, property boundaries, neighboring uses, spill light, weather exposure, and the visual background beyond the court.

Using the same fixture-first logic in both environments can miss the conditions that matter most.

Before approving a package, confirm that the photometric study matches:
• the current site and court plan
• the intended mounting geometry
• the exact fixture schedule and optics
• the agreed calculation area
• the project's performance criteria
• the operating conditions the owner expects

A useful photometric review begins by checking the assumptions before debating the numbers.

This week’s PJM forecast is lower, with Monday projected as the week’s high at `103,253 MW`.

That is helpful context. But it does not eliminate the need for a capacity strategy.

After the summer, PJM reviews the region’s highest-demand hours. Those hours can influence the processes used to establish separate generation and transmission capacity tags.

And your monthly demand charge is not automatically your capacity tag.

For higher-exposure facilities, capacity-related costs can push total electricity expense toward a 30% increase, depending on the zone, tariff, load profile, and supply structure.

The takeaway: understand your capacity exposure before it becomes a budget surprise.
