I need prayers for my brother he’s in Maine med icu with heart issues my parents just rushed out of here with my brother in law to go there I’m stuck here watching the dog. I don’t want attention or s**t like that I just want anyone that will pray to pray for him. PLEASE I don’t need comments just prayers PLEASE i know me begging god or any god doesn’t always work but more faith is better than no faith and the more prayers the better.

Me waiting on checks from the irs to open mateos in a new spot…only they delivered them to the old spot early September then instead of forwarding them to me they got sent back to the irs. This is me waiting and checking the mail hoping they’d be there 127 days in a row after they told me they mailed them 3 different times. Soon everyone soon. I’m sorry I’ve been incredibly depressed while waiting and not knowing what to tell everyone or where we’re going. Both old and new yum mees spot are asking absolutely outrageous prices for rent so if anyone knows of any reasonably priced locations message us and Have a merry Christmas and happy holidays.

We’ve narrowed our new home down to 2 locations I would like our customers join in on choosing where we go.

1) the old yum mees building

2) a small section of the old Gedimans building

I would love to hear all of your thoughts please.
Also to be clear we would only be getting a small section of where yum mees is now we would be sharing the building with them. I don’t want any confusion about everyone thinking we would get the whole building we’d only be getting a small section of the building. There’s No parking or outdoor dining and I’m not sure if we could get a liquor license in this spot. The other location will need lots of cleaning and remodeling and the landlord is taking care of the outside and we would be able to open in a couple weeks possibly less. I also changed the wording for choosing I just don’t want the word New or Old being the deciding factor I would love to hear reasons why like if we went to the 5 school street location we would have a full restaurant with seating up to 40 or more, room for a full service bar, 10 dedicated parking spaces, room for a dozen or more outdoor dining, a full sized kitchen, 2 bathrooms and we could possibly own the whole building some day. The old Gedimans building has been remodeled it’s across the street from our old location we’d have to design the entire kitchen set up and location, we’ll have to buy a hood which is around $6,000 just for the hood that’s not cost of shipping or installation, we’ll have to have a plumber come in and run plumbing for everything. We’ll have hire an electrician to run all the electrical, not sure if we would have enough room to install the convection oven to have nachos, again all things to keep in mind we also may only have enough room to seat 10-20 people, unfortunately the grass lot next door is owned by the old dry cleaners otherwise that would have been great for outdoor dinning but we won’t be able to have outdoor dining in the old Gedimans building. It will take us a lot more time and cost us a lot more money but I’ll do whatever I can to try and keep everyone happy. It was a bitter sweet day today as we emptied 56 Centre Street. 16 plus years we’ve been in business and for 3 years I was able to call Mateos home. I’ve taken pride in knowing we contributed to the community wonderful, wholesome burritos, tacos, and quesadillas . The outpour of love and concern from all of our patrons has definitely taken a place in our hearts. Without any of you we would never of been able to be Mateos. So thank you everyone for all the love and support. Stay tuned, we hope to be open again real soon to greet all of you ❤️

There’s 4 possible 5 places in town we are looking that’s why we don’t have a definite answer to where we’re going yet. We are really interested in a building but as everyone knows that building needs a ton of work. Still in the negotiations with the owner and we’ll post as soon as we figure things out. We miss you guys and we will be back asap.

Sure it’s no secret by now we are moving. We’ll be open tonight and all day tomorrow then that’s it for this location. We don’t have a planned opening date at this moment for the new place so come and get your last Mateo’s cause I can’t tell you when you can get more.

Today’s special is seasoned ground beef with cumin scented sweet potatoes! You get your choice of beans and salsa and it comes with a blend of shredded Mexican cheeses, jasmine rice made with sautéed onions and garlic, shredded green leaf lettuce and diced tomatoes on a 12” wheat tortilla for $12.99 plus tax

We’ve also got a new extra spicy extra roasted garlicky ghost chili salsa. It’s just like the original just more garlic and more of a slap with the spice!
