A message from the Thornsberry family
Many of you who have visited The Oak & Vine are longtime friends, and each day we’ve been open we’ve been fortunate to make new ones. It has been an incredible experience for our family!
Our longtime friends know the journey our family has been on. Seven years ago, my wife Deanna was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor and given a prognosis of 12–15 months. Deanna, an RN, chose to fight it and she became a walking miracle.
Along the way, our family, friends, and especially her fellow nurses and doctors rallied around her. Despite the challenges, we’ve been blessed to share so many of life’s best moments together. Deanna, our boys, and I have always refused to let glioblastoma define our lives or keep us from living them fully. Opening The Oak & Vine was part of that.
Unfortunately, the fight has taken a heavy toll on Deanna. Two days ago, she aspirated food into her lungs and developed pneumonia. She is now too weak to fight it, and we have made the difficult decision to focus on keeping her comfortable and peaceful. We don’t know how much time we have left, but we believe it may be only a few days.
The Oak & Vine will remain closed this week so we can be together as a family. We will reopen when the time is right.
Thank you for your friendship, prayers, love, and understanding. They mean more to our family than we can express.
