This is Mandie!
What year did you start working at Murphy’s?
Originally, 1992, starting as a table-cleaner when I was 14 years old, and then returning about two and half years ago.
What do you actually do day-to-day at the restaurant?
Typically, I wait on the great citizens of Bartlesville , and they tip me for tormenting the cooks.
What is your favorite menu item?
Definitely the Filet Mignon and eggs with a side of fries and gravy!
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want to have with you?
A handsome man capable of building a boat, my bikini and my fishing pole!!!
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
I don’t sing karaoke, I provide emotional support for the microphone….
Can you tell us about one of your favorite work memories?
This is an impossible question for me to answer; 80 years ago, Melvin and Lorene did more than open a restaurant in small town Bartlesville, OK. They put a dot on the map where families still gather for any and all occasions. The bond that a waitress forms with the community in a restaurant that has stood strong for 80 years is incredibly special. Growing up in this restaurant, I learned the value of connection and familiarity, serving customers who have become like extended family over the years. After spending 23 years away, returning to find many of the same faces has been a heartwarming experience. Each interaction, whether it’s a familiar smile or a shared laugh over a favorite dish, reinforces the deep-rooted relationships that have flourished here. It’s not just about serving food; it’s about being part of countless life stories, celebrations, and even struggles. The Murphy Family has touched a lot of lives throughout the years, whether our patrons knew them personally or not. And that’s probably my favorite part!
