Hello, Big Loafer family.

We are so grateful for all of the beautiful messages we have seen and received since the passing of Sydney Mae. 💌 To know so many people will remember her for her kindness and generosity is a priceless comfort. We will miss her so much.

Thank you, Huntington Mall, for organizing a food drive for her two favorite charities. The gesture was perfect and meant so very much to us.❤️

And thank you, The Herald-Dispatch, for this lovely story. You really captured how she tried to take good care of our family of employees, too.

Sydney Mae sought more than anything to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Thank you so much for the outpouring of love and prayers we've experienced since the passing of our beloved owner, Sydney Mae.

To clarify, THE BIG LOAFER IS NOT CLOSING. We closed one day so our Big Loafer family could attend her service and celebrate her.

The restaurant remains under the direction of Sydney's son, where it has been since her health began declining more than a decade ago, and our dedicated managers.

Come order a cheeseburger roll in honor of Sydney. They weren't on the menu in 1981, but we added them because she made them for her children and they loved them.

Or get your favorite pizza roll, Italian loaf or Big Loafer, which have remained nearly unchanged for 45 years, except we haven't made them explode with the pronged steamers since microwaves became affordable. That's right. The Big Loafer predates microwaves!

Thank you again for expressing so much love for Sydney and her legacy of generosity. May God be glorified.

We wanted to let our Big Loafer family know that we will be closed this Thursday, May 21, so our employees can attend services for Sydney Mae, who has been the owner of this local institution since it opened in 1981. She passed on Sunday after a long period of declining health.

Please keep all of us in your prayers. 🙏

Sydney and our beloved manager Betty are together again.

It truly has been our honor to work with Harmony House to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness achieve self-sufficiency. We pray our donations of food have made the path a little easier! Thank you, Harmony House, for all that you do for our community. ❤️
