Kudos to those who recognized the photo in yesterday's Mother's Day post (Nicely done, Andy and Greg!). It is photo of the band The Mothers of Invention, formed by none other than Baltimore's own Frank Zappa (The guy whose statue is in front of the Enoch Pratt Free Library on Eastern Avenue). It comes from the photo shoot for their third album "We Are Only in It for the Money". A similar photo was ultimately chosen by Verve Records to be the cover when the album was initially released amid fears that they may face legal action for the originally intended album cover, which was a parody of The Beatles "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover, despite Frank calling Paul McCartney personally beforehand to discuss the matter. Later pressings of the album were released using the originally intended cover photo.
