Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse

Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse Red Emma's is a worker-owned radical bookstore, vegan/vegetarian restaurant, and bar in Baltimore, Maryland.
(1141)

Red Emma's is a radical bookstore and a vegetarian restaurant and a coffee roaster and a space for public events. Red Emma's is a worker cooperative and family of projects dedicated to autonomy, sustainability, participatory democracy, and solidarity. Since 2004, our space has been a grassroots answer to the collapse of civic infrastructure, a radical gathering place and experiment in self-organiz

ed education, all made possible by a horizontally organized collective of folks who own the underlying business cooperatively. We also serve some amazing ethically sourced food and a fine cup of transparently traded coffee.

Pride started as a riot against police repression - may that spirit and fire carry us forward into the next year. With our neighbors being snatched by ICE while dropping their kids off at school, the police attacking Pride and protecting detention centers, and imperialist military misadventures continuing across the globe, we don’t really feel like celebrating the 250th birthday of this country. And to be honest, with a quarter millennium track record of settler genocide, slavery, and blood-soaked foreign aggression, that’s not just something we’re feeling because of 2026.

So we made a list of 250 books about why America is a problem instead.

Check out the full list at the link in our bio, and let us know what you’ve read, what you want to, and what we missed!

This Sunday afternoon, we are exploring the life and legacy of trailblazing jailhouse lawyer and revolutionary anarchist political prisoner Martin Sostre, with the help of Garrett Felber, the author of a major new biography of Sostre and editor of his collected writings, and former Baltimore Black Panther Paul Coates. This is going to be an amazing dive into radical history, don’t miss it!
