Friends! Look at this fu***ng cool chandelier made out of recycled bike chains that one of our former worker-owners helped to build, which was gifted to us a decade ago! Way back in 2014, when we were still in our North Avenue location, once of our longtime owners relocated to LA and found their way into a gig as a shop assistant for Facaro Studio, the home of multidisciplinary artist Carolina Fontoura Alzaga, who is one of the most spectacular human beings we have ever had the pleasure to meet. Caro learned about Red Emma’s from our former owner, and one thing led to another, and one day a giant blue box showed up on our doorstep containing hundreds of pounds of metal chains woven together into this gorgeous light sculpture, and we learned a LOT about pulleys and winches figuring out how to attach it to our 20’ ceilings! This (extremely heavy) piece has been lovingly moved from location to location along with our books, our tables and chairs, and the shelves we’ve constructed over the years, and it just wouldn’t feel like home without it. ♥️💡
