Vonnie was a single mom of 2 boys. She worked 1st, 2nd and third shift at a metal manufacturing plant. When she worked 2nd and 3rd shift, she had to make sure that her growing young boys ate.
She taught the oldest how to make simple foods like hot dogs and eggs at the mere age of 6. He made sure his little brother ate first and that the food was good.
Little brother admired big brother and followed him around the kitchen learning to cook more and more and as they aged, both developed a passion for cooking.
I'll tell you that there was a lot of experimentation with plenty of different foods.
Fast forward to the fall of 2020. Little brother took a BBQ class with and and discovered what real barbecue tasted like. He went back to the drawing board and developed an original taste of his own with his new found knowledge.
Little brother purchased his first offset smoker and worked on his craft. He brought samples to his job, received true constructive criticism and adapted his recipes and methods.
Once the taste, appearance and tenderness was to his approval, he purchased the titanic aka RASPUTIA, and began working on his menu.
On 11/12/21, Barbecue on the Bay was born, founded on the need to eat, the passion for cooking and the desire to bring great barbecue to the B'more area.
