Front Street on a Tuesday evening: a bench, a few pots of flowers and a quiet block in the middle of Ballston Spa. We are the brick front with the black windows and the herbs growing in the window boxes. Tuesday is our day off, so tonight the neighborhood has the sidewalk to itself. This is is the dining room before anyone arrives: black cloth, folded napkins, the menus squared up and the glasses still upside down. Why is there chorizo in our lasagna? Because this kitchen is half Italian and half Mexican, and the two halves cook next to each other every night. Our Mexican Lasagna layers beef, veal and house chorizo with Oaxaca cheese and mozzarella under our own tomato sauce, baked until the top browns and the edges go crisp.

What happens if you put Mexican street corn on a brick-oven pizza? At 42 Fusion it comes out as the Elote: charred street corn, shrimp, fresh jalapeño and red onion over queso fresco, finished with a drizzle of mayo and cilantro. Twelve inches, stretched by hand. I sincerely apologize for using an AI-generated photo. With how short staffed we’ve become, it was the quickest way to get the word out.

In the three years we’ve been open, we’ve never been as short on staff as we are now. Our employees truly become like family, so it’s heartbreaking when it’s time to say goodbye. At the same time, we’re looking forward to welcoming new people to the 42 Fusion family.

We are urgently hiring kitchen staff. If we can’t find help soon, we may have to reduce hours or close on some of our busiest days something we desperately want to avoid. 42 Fusion will be closed today, May 25th, as we take time to honor and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday with friends and family.
