Our social media has been a little quiet the past few days. Our media person has been spending a little extra time out of the shop with her parents who are visiting from out of town & soaking in these last few days of summer with her grandbabies.

One of the behind the scenes tasks of coffee shop ownership is the weekly supply runs. I’m not going to lie, it’s kinda boring. This morning, I found myself wheeling around Costco picking up a few things to get us thru the week. As I left the store, the employee checking my receipt, complimented my cute dress & my smile. It’s not rare. She does this every time I see her at Costco. & it’s not just me. She greets everyone with a smile, looks them in the eye & affirms them in some way. She is goodness & kindness personified.

I thought about her the whole way back to GGs. I thought about her while I unpacked the groceries. & I’ve been thinking about her all afternoon.

May our lives be a blessing.

When Annette & I began dreaming about bringing a coffee shop to Avon, it started with these two women. We missed them & their beautiful shop.

Helen & Sara owned & operated the Village Bean here in Avon some 20 years ago. We were inspired by them as people, by how they chose to run their business & the gift they were to our community. In many ways, we are here because of them.

When their successor, the Village Bean of Albany, went up for sale; Annette & I stepped out in faith & brought their dream back to Avon. Lock stock & barrel.

In subsequent years, Helen has become a dear friend. She is the kindest person, always willing to share her wisdom & encouragement. We value everything she has taught us.

As a nod to them & their hard work we partnered with Alakef to bring back their signature blend the Wobegon Wild for our 10th Anniversary.

Thank you Helen & Sara, for inspiring us to take a risk & find our way to a life we love here on Avon’s Main Street.
