Once you have coffee cherries, you have to get the seed out of them

Yaupon on the other hand, the leaves just need to be washed and roasted

Yaupon grows wild in the south east US. Their leaves are ready for the harvesting.

1. You need fresh coffee cherry plant seeds

Roasted beans from the store obviously will not grow anything.

If seeds are more than a few months old, they will not germinate.

Yaupon, on the other hand, grows wild in the south east US. No planting or tending is necessary.

I gathered fresh yaupon leaves yesterday at Faire of Champions to process this week.

This batch will be made into tea bags, plain yaupon and yaupon with mint, that will be available at FoC promotions, the times and dates of which will be announced on their page.

If you want more information about the faire or its events, and to take home some yaupon tea made from the wild grown plants on the faire grounds (hand harvested, hand washed, and hand packaged by the Leukaupon Tea Company) see the Faire of Champions page for more details 😊
