If you’ve been to Ani’s, you already know how warm, kind, and welcoming Jess Mooney is.
She is a beloved and deeply valued part of the Ani’s Day & Night team. She shows up for our community every day with her heart, humor, hard work, and genuine care—and now it’s our turn to show up for her.
On May 26, 2021, Jess was diagnosed with cirrhosis and liver failure. That same day became the first day of her sobriety. Her health declined rapidly, and on July 2, 2021, she received a life-saving liver transplant.
Jess has spent the past five years fighting to rebuild her life—maintaining her sobriety, returning to work, caring for her health, and making the most of her second chance.
Now, she’s facing another fight. Jess is unexpectedly losing the disability benefits and Medicare coverage she has relied on since her transplant, putting the lifelong medications, labs, and medical care she needs at risk.
Jess is the kind of person who has a really hard time asking for help. But nobody should have to face something like this alone—and we aren’t going to let her.
