One of my favorite things about Little Guide is getting to spend time with the people behind the businesses in our community.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Matt today, and by the end of our conversation, I completely understood why he's spent more than 20 years succeeding in the restaurant industry.

Of course he's hardworking. Of course he's detail-oriented. Those things matter.

But what impressed me most was how he talks about his customers.

Not once did our conversation focus on profits or numbers. Instead, he talked about the experience people have when they walk through the door. He talked about the food, the atmosphere, the service, and making sure people leave happy.

You can tell he genuinely cares.

That's something you don't find everywhere.

The more we talked, the more I realized that Fire Shaka Hawaiian BBQ isn't successful because of one menu item or one great idea. It's successful because it's built by someone who believes that taking care of people comes first.

That same mindset carries over into the community. Matt believes in giving back and supporting the people around him whenever he can. Those are the kinds of business owners who make the CSRA such a special place to live.

I'm genuinely excited to watch Fire Shaka Hawaiian BBQ continue to grow, and I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with Matt. He's the kind of person you root for because you know how much heart he's poured into what he's built.

Aiken… we’re coming!

Today we officially signed the lease for the future home of Fire Shaka-Hawaiian BBQ at 126 Laurens St NW, Aiken, SC.

Just a few weeks ago, we opened our doors at Augusta Mall. The support, encouragement, and love we’ve received from our community has been incredible, and because of that support, we’re already taking the next step.

This location will allow us to bring the full Fire Shaka experience to Aiken, including our first true dine-in restaurant where friends and families can gather, share a meal, and experience aloha together.

Our projected opening is August 2026, and while there’s still plenty of work ahead, today marks a huge milestone for our team and our vision.

What started as a dream has become a reality, and we’re just getting started. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, believed in us, and helped us build Fire Shaka from the ground up.
