The General Muir

The General Muir The General Muir is a MICHELIN Recommended modern American restaurant inspired by classic New York Jewish Deli.
(1572)

A partnership between Chef Todd Ginsberg and Shelley Sweet, Ben Johnson, and Jennifer Johnson (the folks behind West Egg Cafe), The General Muir is a tribute to the classic New York Jewish Deli, returning it to its hand-crafted roots. Traditional favorites are honored – pastrami is cured and smoked in house, bagels are kettle boiled and hand rolled – and joined by dishes going beyond tradition, fo

cusing on fresh ingredients and simple preparations. The General Muir is named for the refugee transport ship that brought owner Jennifer Johnson's mother and grandparents, Holocaust survivors, to New York in 1949. The General Muir opened in 2013 at Emory Point (aka The Point), the mixed-use development on Clifton Road next to the campus of Emory University, across the street from the CDC. A second location opened January 2021 at City Springs, in Sandy Springs, GA.

Atlantans love a good burger, and there’s been great debate over the years as to which restaurants serve the best. For many Atlanta burger enthusiasts, the win undoubtedly goes to the General Muir and its iconic double-smash cheeseburger created by chef Todd Ginsberg. It all began with a burger at Tap in Midtown, followed by the Bocado burger.

Emory students: you gotta keep yourself well-fueled during Finals, so join us for dinner tonight (Wednesday), bring your student ID, have a seat (no running off and taking it back to the dorm, just chill here for a minute), and eat a burger. It’s a great burger (some say it’s the best in ATL) and, on Wednesday nights, just for YOU, it’s $15, including our delicious handcut fries. And nobody would judge you if you finished off with a slice of cheesecake (have you tried the special seasonal Strawberry Mascarpone Cheesecake?!). Bring a friend; maybe they’ll share it with you. Or go halfsies with the Brooklyn Blackout Cake.
