Scooped up a new game of the week inspired by our love of hiking and beautiful cover art! Switchbacks is a relatively quick and simple play - create hiking trails of
4 or more consecutive numbers and place your hikers on them to score points. We’ll have this one as an option at our upcoming pop-up board game night at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust - come check it out!

We’ll have a selection of board games, snacks, drinks, and dinner provided by one of our awesome partners, Coffyn Pyes. Free to attend, and fun for the whole family! This week’s game of the week is Ticket to Ride: First Journey! A simplified version of the original, the goal is to be the first player to complete 6 train routes. We love our youngest of gamers here at Meeples Cafe, and will have a variety of kid and family boardgames. We’ll also have a cozy kids corner with select books, crafts, and other toys to keep the littles occupied while their grown-ups play for as long as they like. Make it a family game night at Meeples Cafe!

Who else gets stressed out by this game?! This week’s game of the week is Agricola and it took our group of 4 players about 4 hours to complete (3 who have played before, 1 newbie). This is a worker placement game where you own and operate a farm, gaining points for things like expanding your farmhouse, plowing fields, and raising livestock. Expand your worker pool to get more actions, but run the risk of starving if you have too many workers to feed at each harvest! For long games like Agricola, you need a comfortable spot to play and access to some delicious sustenance to keep you going- both of which you’ll find at Meeples Cafe!

Who else loves a board game date night? Codenames: Duet, our game of the week, is a 2-player version of the classic party game. Test how well you know how your partner thinks by giving each other 1-word clues to guess a certain number of cards in a limited number of turns. Make Meeples your future date spot and come check out this game when we open this fall!

We’re expanding the Meeples Team! Since we’re expecting a mid-fall opening, most positions won’t start for a while, but we’re getting the dice rolling early to give our newest team members time to get to know us and each other! Take a look and apply on our website (link in bio).

We played one of our favorite games last night for this week’s game of the week: Azul. This unique tile placement strategy game is great for 2-4 players of any board game skill level. Draft tiles to complete a pattern on your board - score points for adding tiles to your board, and bonus points for getting full columns, rows, or tile sets. We love it for its fast-paced play and colorful artwork. We’re excited to open up a space where we can play this and more of our favorites somewhere besides our dining table!
