The chili recipe stayed in the Ballow's cabinet drawer for years. They just took it for granted that everyone had a good chili recipe. But som

ething wonderful happened when the Ballows opened up a little country café and started serving the chili to their customers. Bruce and wife Vaunda, opened "Ballow's Café in 1984. In 1992 they served their first sampling of chili using the closely guarded chili recipe. It was such a big hit that their daughter Lisa Moring of Mississippi, contacted a blender to have the seasoning blended and labeled. That is when "Ballow's Famous Texas Chili Seasoning" became available to consumers. The Ballow family seasoning mix includes 14 herbs and spices including chili powder, paprika, garlic, onion and cumin. It is purchased in a box with two separate packets of ingredients. The Ballow's have sold their cafe to give more time to distributing the chili which is now a full time job.
