Thank you Gwyneth Philips for winning the Gold Medal in Hockey, 2026! We are still so proud of you, our hometown hero.

Two hours to Columbus. Four days a week. For years.

That's what it took to get Gwyneth Philips from Bird Ice Arena to a gold medal in Milan, the first Olympic gold for an Athens athlete.

While she played, Athens hung banners. Bars moved their hours so people could watch together. Avalanche renamed The Godzilla "The Gwynzilla" and sent a cut of every one sold to the Joe Burrow Foundation.

"It really made me have a lot of pride in my hometown. Because, man, we are an eclectic group, but we are a loving group."
