🚨 PLEASE READ — THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF ATCHISON IS IN CRISIS 🚨
We never wanted to make a post like this, but we have run out of options. Right now, the Humane Society of Atchison is operating in the negative with virtually no funds left to keep our doors open.
At this very moment:
🐾 10 dogs still need to be spayed and neutered
🐾 Over 20 kittens will soon need veterinary care and surgeries
🐾 We have 3 mama cats currently caring for babies
🐾 Another pregnant mama cat is about to give birth to an entire litter
🐾 One of our dogs suffered a stroke and desperately needs medical attention that we simply cannot afford
On top of the animals needing care, we have no money left for basic necessities:
• Gas
• Electricity
• Water
• Insurance
• Daily operating costs
To make matters worse, a kind supporter accidentally donated $1,000 when they only intended to donate $10. While we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and honesty, that money has to be reimbursed — leaving us in an even more devastating position financially.
Without immediate help, we may be forced to:
⚠️ Cut employee hours
⚠️ Close early and reduce days open
⚠️ Or permanently shut our doors
And if that happens, these animals lose their safe place. The abandoned, neglected, injured, pregnant, scared, and unwanted animals in our community will have nowhere to go.
This shelter is not just a building. It is their second chance.
We are asking our community to come together now more than ever. Whether it’s $5, $10, sharing this post, donating supplies, or helping sponsor a spay/neuter appointment — every single thing matters right now.
