It is with great sorrow and heartbreak to tell you all, my friends and family, that my sweet husband, my lobster, my JoeBob, Chuck Doherty passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 14. We don’t know the details yet. But I was running errands and when I came home, Chuck was laying on the floor in our kitchen and it was too late.
Chuck and I have known each other since we were 17 working at a Carl’s Jr in Garden Grove. We had a turbulent relationship when we were young (on again off again and mostly off.) We parted ways when we were very young and both married elsewhere.
God was gracious and His sovereign plan is good. He brought Chuck back into my life when I was a single mom of 3 teenagers. We married on January 15, 2005.
He was the best of men. And there was never a day where our marriage was work. I know that sounds impossible but it is absolutely true. My best friend in all the world.
As time and circumstances went on, we found ourselves creating a business together making and selling scones. It was a weird little business but we had the blessing of working together everyday. So many hours working side by side. Laughing, listening to MercyMe, listening to podcasts and sermons. We had the extreme joy of meeting and building relationships with our many customers. Oh what an amazing life we had!
It has been my honor and privilege to be this great man’s wife. I confidently know he is in the presence of our Lord and was the moment he left this world. I cannot wait until the day I see him again. I miss him so much. But I’m so grateful for the Lord who keeps us both as we are apart.
Thank you all for loving us so well. Please remember my sweet man.
“He has told you, O man, what is good, and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8
My love, you lived so well. Until we meet again.
