This Thanksgiving we're expressing our gratitude by giving back to our community. Come grab a free meal at the address listed on the flyer - everyone's welcome!
We'll be closed at our regular location, but we're proud to support Hour Children Food Pantry.
Astoria is our home and has always supported our small business for years. This is our way of showing thanks and giving back to those in need.
My father's lessons have always stuck with me; one of the most important being, to be thankful for our blessings and to give back.
Please share so we can feed as many of our neighbors as possible this Thanksgiving.
A big thanks to for her help in making this happen - she's a wonderful person and a true champion for our community.

An appreciation post for the King of Souvlaki — my father.

This is the kind of man he is.
If I can be half the man he is, I’ll consider myself truly blessed.

Growing up around his little pushcart in Astoria, I watched him feed countless people — those struggling, those with no money, those who were homeless. And to this day, he reminds everyone who works with him: never deny anyone food when they ask.

No matter how cold the winters or hot the summers, he worked tirelessly for his family while always giving back. Nonprofits, community groups, and charities knew they could count on him to help whenever they asked.

I remember one Saturday when I was much younger and I was helping him. A man who was homeless stood quietly off to the side while my dad served a long line. I pointed him out and asked who he was. My dad smiled and said, “Oh him? That’s my best customer.” He wrapped up some souvlaki and bread, handed it to him, and the man thanked him with a hug.
Moments like that? I’ve seen too many to count.

He would never want me to post this. He always told me, “Give, but don’t tell anyone. God knows — and that’s enough.”

At a recent fundraiser, after feeding everyone, he was asked to say a few words. This is what he said (translated from Greek):

“What I give is not mine — it comes from God. God gave to me so I can give to others. I thank Him for the strength and ability to give back. It’s all from God.”

That’s my father. That’s who he is. And I’m proud to be his son.

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to our beloved Stavro.
Your passing came as a great shock.
You leave behind a void in our lives that can never be filled.
Your family, friends, and colleagues miss you dearly and are devastated by your loss.
Your kind heart, infectious smile, and your silly sense of humor will always be remembered fondly, and missed by all who knew you.
You were always able to lift our moods even if we were down or tired.
It was such a pleasure to work with you and a blessing to have you in all our lives.
You were a great friend and a beautiful soul.
We can’t begin to fathom how devastating this is for your family.
All of our support and love is with them and I hope you know that.
Your time on earth wasn’t long but your impact on everyone who knew you will last a lifetime.
You may no longer be with us but you will for sure never be forgotten.
We love you Stavro, and we miss you.
Until we meet again.
Rest in peace.
