In Spain, “la hora del vermut” is the time before a meal when you sit down with vermut on the rocks, an olive, and a snack. We’re bringing the ritual to Astoria, for New York happy hour.

Cueva Nueva is part of a new wave of Spanish vermut — made in Tarragona from Garnacha Blanca and Airén, infused with 88 botanicals. Wormwood, orange peel, cinnamon, and a long list of Mediterranean herbs.

Available on draft. On the rocks, with soda or tonic and olives. $9 during happy hour. $9 All night on Tuesdays.

A Night Of Flights And Bites
With Hak Soo Kim former Head Sommelier of Per Se.

Sunday May 3rd will be the first of these events and this month’s theme will be wines of Northern Spain and Spanish tapas.

Hak Soo will be hosting and offering table-side pours and notes on select wines with a paired light menu.

There will be more to come in the near future with Hak Soo sharing the floor with other wine proffesionals who will be offering their tales from the terrain.

KOHLI BOURBOURISTI. Sautéed Escargot with rosemary in white wine and butter.

I first had this dish in Crete and was blown away. Those little guys were harvested from a vineyard and went straight to the kitchen. I needed to replicate the experience in NYC and didn’t think it was possible until I heard of Peconic Escargot.

These little fellas were harvested here in NY on the North Fork and sent fresh to our kitchen! Voilà! These Snails will go fast.
