Thanks to everybody who has stopped by the stand and purchased honey from us...

🚨We are officially *out of stock* for the year!🚨

We will be resuming honey extraction around mid-June, so please check back around that time! We're also taking this as a sign that we need more hives... Twist my arm! πŸ˜‰

There will however be a few boxes of honeycomb in the stand for anyone that's interested! 🍯

It's almost that time of year again... Honeybee swarm season! With the warm, sunny weather throughout this week we're expecting swarms will be spotted very soon. If you see a cluster of bees hanging from a branch or on the side of a building send us a message and we'd be happy to give them a new home or recommend someone else that could.

We still have spring, summer, and a little bit of fall honey available at our self-serve stand. With the colder weather we'll be rotating stock regularly to minimize crystalization. Feel free to send us a message to ask about stock before visiting!

Tonight we finished getting our 12 hives ready for winter! After we smoked the hive to calm the bees, we opened up to the top deep hive box and placed 5 VarroxSan oxalic acid strips in higher traffic areas within the box.

We want thousands of tiny bee feet to walk over those strips, as they'll treat for the parasitic Varroa mites that may be on the bees, and help prevent any mite infestation as the bees go into their most vulnerable season of the year.

Afterwards, we placed what's known as a "quilt box" to help capture moisture emitted from the bees' respiratory processes. Otherwise, that moisture might drip back onto them during the colder months (and moisture kills more bees than starvation) so this will help keep them cozy and dry ☺️

We'll keep checking in on them periodically, but otherwise, good luck bees! We've fed them with sugar syrup to the proper box weights and done all the prep work we can to give them the best winter chances ❄️
